Find Your Joy

Find your joy. This painting hangs in my office. It is a beautiful watercolor painting of a blue snow cone on a dappled blue background. there is a line of blue syrup dripping down the side of the paper cone and one large drop falling from the bottom. I can practically taste this painting.

I keep this in my office because it brings me great joy. The artist who painted this was Joy Kingdom and they were part of Art from the Streets, a non-profit in Austin, Texas, which provides a safe and encouraging environment for persons experiencing homelessness and who are at risk. These artistic endeavors form a pathway to self determination, social connections and income generated through the pursuit of their art.

Now through Sunday, Sep 29th, there is a special exhibition featuring unique pieces created by 40 of AFTS artists at The Gallery at Austin Public Library.
